I went to another dance class yesterday, my third in the last month. Each was a different type of dance, with different groups, which is cool. Dancing was a huge part of my life growing up and I was very disappointed when I moved here to find out that most people in the west dont dance. As a result I haven’t danced for years and have always missed it.
It’s not easy walking into these places by myself, but I like trying new things; it’s one of the ways I learn and grow as a person. Anyway, the class begins, the teacher is going through the introduction and very slowly I come to the realization that there might not be music at this dance lesson! And then, I gradually remembered that the name of this group included the word “improv”.
I am known for diving into things that most people wouldn’t, so you could say that I should have been more diligent before I signed up, but honestly, would you really expect a dance class to not have music?? Also, doing too much research can sometimes end up with reasons not to go for things, so I often find it better to jump in feet first!
It was an intense experience, partly because most of the people knew each other and were very good dancers, partly because I was dancing in fairly close quarters with a man (not that there’s anything wrong with it!) but mainly because there was no music!!!
As referenced earlier, I like pushing the envelope, but this was something else. I thought about leaving multiple times but in the end I stayed and I danced for two and a half hours, without ANY music!
Nice piece, like your other stuff as well. I'll invite you to my site. Enjoyed having coffee today.
